Middle East and North Africa

We first started working in the Middle East in 1976, with an urban development project in Dammam, Saudi Arabia. From that base, we have grown to 18 offices and approximately 2,000 employees in this region.

Our regional enterprise services and the regional delivery center are based in the UAE and we operate in most of the countries in MENA (the Middle East and North Africa) region, including Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Bahrain, Iraq, Egypt and Afghanistan, serving water, wastewater, power, energy and chemicals, transportation, renewable energy, nuclear, manufacturing, environmental management, and industrial and government facilities markets.

CH2M HILL provides a spectrum of services to our clients, including programme management, consultancy, engineering, procurement, construction management, operations and maintenance, facility and utility management, and master planning.

The acquisition of VECO Engineering (2007) and Halcrow (2011) further strengthened our regional footprint and capability. Our joint venture with the Olayan Group of Saudi Arabia, called CH2M Olayan (formed in 2009) serves the growing public and private infrastructure needs of the Kingdom.

  • Inner Doha Re-sewerage Implementation Strategy (IDRIS) - Qatar
    Programme management consultancy for the IDRIS scheme that involves expanding and upgrading the wastewater infrastructure in Doha.
  • Strategic Tunnel Enhancement (STEP) - UAE
    Programme management for the Abu Dhabi City wastewater infrastructure upgrades, including a 41-kilometer deep sewer tunnel and 51 kilometers of link sewers.
  • Shah Gas Development - UAE
    Project management consultancy for the multibillion dollar gas production and processing scheme.
  • Mishref Pump Station - Kuwait
    Consulting and supervisory services for the assessment, evaluation and rehabilitation of the Mishref Pumping Station in Kuwait.
  • Masdar City - UAE
    Programme management for the first phase of Masdar City - the clean technology cluster - in Abu Dhabi.
  • Al Ain Wildlife Park and Resort - UAE
    Programme Management of the mixed use development, covering an approximate 2,220 acres of Al Ain City.
  • Abu Dhabi Capital District - UAE
    Project management for Abu Dhabi Capital District infrastructure (sub-consultancy) focusing on sustainable supply chain management and technology integration.
  • Wastewater Treatment Project for BAPCO (Bahrain Petroleum Company), Bahrain
    FEED services for a membrane bioreactor (MBR) plant for treating refinery wastewater.
  • Presidency of Meteorology and Environmental Protection (PME, Saudi Arabia)
    Programme management, administrative support, marine resources and terrestrial remediation planning and auditing for the environmental clean-up programme in Dammam.
  • Seawater Reverse Osmosis Desalination Plants - UAE
    Design, supply, installation, and commissioning of three seawater reverse osmosis (SWRO) desalination plants in Sharjah.
