CH2M Cofounder Burke Hayes Dies

18 December 2007 — Burke Hayes, who cofounded a Corvallis engineering firm that grew into an international powerhouse, died Friday of natural causes at his Lake Oswego home. He was 95.

In 1946, Hayes and fellow Oregon State University engineering graduates Jim Howland and Holly Cornell joined forces with their former professor, Fred Merryfield, to launch a consulting business that came to be known by their initials, CH2M.
